  1. Responding to Visual Text 1) For each of the media texts, identify the intended audience and the purpose (to sell, persuade, inform, etc.) of the advertisement. 2) Each of the pieces focuses on an image or concept as a controlling idea. What is the central idea in each text? In what way(s) are these ideas different from the majority of advertisements seen in general? 3) Visual elements are often designed to set a mood or tone for the written or spoken text. For each, determine what mood the creators were trying to evoke in the viewer? What visual elements did they use to set the mood?
