  1. Composer of the Week Antonio Lucio Vivaldi 1678 - 1741 Nicknamed ‘Il PreteRosso’ (the red priest) because of his red hair, Vivaldi was an Italian composer, Catholic priest, and virtuoso violinist. His most famous works are probably Le quattro stagioni (The Four Seasons), which each have very different characters. As well as around 200 symphonies and sonatas, he also wrote over 300 concertos for various instruments and combinations of instruments, including ten featuring recorders. Although he was and continues to be very popular, some people have criticised his music, saying it all sounds very similar. Mr Baldwin’s Quote of the Week: “Vivaldi didn’t write 300 concertos – he wrote one concerto and copied it out 299 times!” Igor Stravinsky Welcome to our Celebration Assembly
