Injury Recording Costs in US – Under Estimated • How much time and money do employers spend completing the OSHA injury and illness log and providing data to OSHA each year? • Quite a lot: 2,967,237 hours and $136,753,120 are the costs estimated by OSHA assuming 2 hours per injury form • OSHA does not account for time required for the investigation to determine if and when an injury is recordable • OSHA recording is separate and different from worker's compensation recording • Time to collect person-hours worked and other data are not included in OSHA estimate • Time to fill out employer’s injury forms is not included
