How will his ideas make a difference for students and their families? “ And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. “ I take this to mean that Obama will make the CFF program more prominent nationwide.   3. 2. How will President Obama make our country more secure? Obama plans on making our country more secure by combining military strength with cooperative efforts from other nations. He feels that diplomacy is the best way to security. “Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please…We are the keepers of this legacy. “

Obama frequently references America’s history and the ideals of the Founding Fathers to unify and strengthen America. ‘“…At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people: "Let it be told to the future world...that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]." America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words…”’

List three of the major challenges that face our families and communities the President Obama identified in his speech. • Challenge One- Create Economic Opportunity • Challenge Two- Endeavor to use alternate energy sources • Challenge Three- Use modern technology to provide better, cheaper healthcare.

  6. 5. What, in your opinion, does President Obama ask Americans to do to help strengthen the country? • Obama asks Americans to band together and face the challenges that are presented to us as a unified force in order to strengthen our country.
