  7. Instructional Level vs. Mastery • The MAP test provides the instructional level of the student • It provides a roadmap for students toward achieving of mastery • It is not a test for determining mastery of skills

  15. Testing Schedule Elementary Schools • September 5th -19th(3rd Graders and new students only) • December 1st - 18th(3rd-5th Graders) • May 1st - 22nd(3rd-5th Graders)

  16. Testing Schedule Middle Schools • September 3rd - 19th (All) • December 3rd - 18th andJanuary 5th - 16th (optional) • April 22nd - May 15th

  17. Testing Schedule High Schools • September 3rd - 19th (New students and 9th graders only) • December 3rd - 18th and January 5th - 16th (optional) • April 22nd - May 15th

Technical Aspects of MAP • Tested on desktops or wireless laptops • Not recommended to test wireless – use a switch with laptops • Screens should be set at 600X800 • MAP Administrative Login must be used; keep computers logged in through testing day; secure lab during breaks and lunch • Information stored on building assessment server

  19. Technical Aspects of MAP • Minimum computer requirements: • 32 MB of RAM • Windows 98 or newer • Heidi will communicate any changes in workstation setup at August proctor training

MAP Reports • Teacher Reports • Available 24-48 hours after testing at http://reports.nwea.org • Individual teacher usernames and passwords • Building reports • Available 48-72 hours after testing is complete in the building at http://reports.nwea.org (Kim must order these reports) • Kim Davis will distribute building usernames and passwords • Requires Crystal Reports Viewer

  22. MAP Players and their Roles • Building Principal • Data Leader/Proctor • STS • Teachers • Students

  23. Proctor • Attend ½ day proctor training • Help setup workstations for testing • Work with principal, STS, and other key individuals to create a testing schedule for your building • Administer the test in your building

  24. Proctor, cont. • Distribute teacher usernames and passwords for reports • View reports after building test administration has ended • Report any problems to appropriate district personnel (see Troubleshooting Guide)

  25. Data Leaders (ONLY) • Present MAP Basics to staff • Encourage teachers to show Student PowerPoint before testing window • Help teachers access and understand reports on http://reports.nwea.org

  26. STS • Help setup workstations for testing • Keep MAP login information secure • Help with equipment troubleshooting • Report any problems to appropriate district personnel (see Troubleshooting Guide)

  27. Teachers • Attend MAP Basics session at staff meeting before September 5th • Show MAP Student Presentation before September 5th • Remain in room during test administration • Give assignment or encourage students to bring something to work on when finished testing • View reports 24-48 hours after testing

  28. Students • View MAP Student Presentation • Take test • Try your best (invalidation if too fast or random guessing) • Bring something to work on after finished with the test
