  1. What is Pod Transport? Pod transport is also quite commonly known as “Public Rapid Transit” or PRT in short. Don’t get your confused with the POD which stands for proof of delivery. A pod transport is a mode of transportation where an automated driverless vehicle serves the purpose of transportation within the vicinity of its specially built-tracks. These vehicles are small in size as compared to other vehicles for public transport. The maximum of passengers who can hop on to this vehicle is six. Similar to monorail trains, since they are still in the early stages, they have also got similar train tracks. However, these vehicles provide its passengers’ safety and security. In the coming years, when the pod transport will become a norm. There will be fewer DUIs as almost all of them will be hiring a pod taxi. When they are under the influence, it would be easier for them to hire a pod taxi who would drop at their designated place. There have also been CCTV monitoring systems installed inside the pod transport vehicles. In order to provide a safe and secure transport to its passengers. In the future, it would also be far easier for drunk people to go out from the clubs and bars and just hop on to a driverless vehicle, completely safe and monitored by CCTV. Since it is the future of mass transit. It is pretty justifiable to take into consideration the tremendous cost on its infrastructure and development. So, what better way to analyze the investment on the infrastructure in this mode of transport than by weighing out its pros and cons.

  2. The Pros and Cons of Pod Transport The pod transport has been on the market very recently and due to this, it’s under constant changes and up- gradation. However, to look at the pod transport, in a nutshell, let’s see its pros and cons to get a general idea. Pros ● There would be fewer DUIs and the number of accidents will decrease significantly. ● Safer mode of travel. ● Crime rate will decrease as the pod transport are being monitored 24/7 by CCTV. ● Safe for the environment. No hazardous emissions are steamed. Cons ● Most pod transports have a speed up to 25 mph. ● Needs for research and development. ● Infrastructure for pod transport is highly expensive. ● Failure in operation program leads to disastrous consequences. ● Seats are very limited; up to six passengers. In this day and age, when everything is fast and are done with a click of a button. So, it would extremely difficult to compete in the market where everyone wants to go to their offices or to a meeting in time. Hence, getting into a pod transport vehicle such as ULtra that has no more than 25 mph of speed is simply out of the question! To add insult to the injury, these pod transport vehicles have limited seats of up to 6 passengers. This is preposterous for those metropolia who have a large scale of the population to cater. There is still a long way to go for pod transport as there isn’t sufficient research and infrastructure development to run the operations in full scale. The likes of Uber has also recently pulled out from the project of self-driving vehicles. Because of the recent of a pedestrian hit and killed by the Uber driverless vehicle. However, with constant improvements in making and maintaining these autonomous vehicles, pod transport is and will surely be the future of mass transit. To learn more Click-Here
