  2. Where is Timişoara? • It is located in the South-West part of Romania in the region of Banat. Timişoara has quite a few nicknames some as following: Little Vienna, City of Roses, City of Parks. *Click on the map of Romania to see a map of Timişoara*

Climate • In January the maximum temperature was 0 degrees Celsius and the minimum was minus 5 degrees Celsius. • In Febuary the maximum temperature was 5 degrees Celsius and the minimum was minus 4 degrees Celsius. • In March the maximum temperature was 10 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 0 degrees Celsius. • In April the maximum temperature was 20 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 5 degrees Celsius. • In May the maximum temperature was 23 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 10 degrees Celsius. • In June the maximum temperature was 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 16 degrees Celsius. •  In July the maximum temperature was 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 12 degrees Celsius.  • In August the maximum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 5 degrees Celsius. • In September the maximum temperature was 0 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 0 degrees Celsius. • In October the maximum temperature was 7 degrees Celsius and the minimum was minus 1 degrees Celsius. • In November the maximum temperature was 6 degrees Celsius and the minimum was minus 2 degrees Celsius. • In December the maximum was 0 degrees Celsius and the minimum was minus 5 degrees Celsius.

  4. Population of Timişoara • There are 319,279 people that were reported to live in Timişoara in 2011. • Hungarians, Germans, Ukrainians and Romanians all live in Romania without any conflict or discrimination problems.

  5. Traditional Costume for the top lowland area of Banat In each region there are different traditional costumes for Romanians to wear. The one featured in the picture above is the traditional costume for the top lowland area of Banat. The men also wear a black hat on their head with leather boots. The women wear rubber shoes on their feet. These costumes are all hand made and are mostly worn today for traditional Romanian festivals and for folk music.

  6. How Can One Get There? The Car is the first ever Dacia. The plane is a Romanian airline plane. The train is the Timisoara Train. • You can get to Timişoara by Car, Train or Plane. • Car: Bucharest (Romania) is 556 km away ( a 6.4 hour drive) • Aeroplane It is a 55 min plane flight from Bucharest to Timişoara. • Train It is a 7 ½ train ride from Bucharest.

  7. Parks in Timişoara • Timişoara is home to many beautiful parks which gave it the name of “The City of Parks”. Some consider Timişoara as being “The City of Roses” as it is home to “The Roses Park”. This park has been in Timişoara ever since 1891, it is home to 600 different species of roses and is a great park in Timişoara for tourists to have a picnic in.

  8. Squares in Timişoara • There are many squares in Timişoara such as Opera Plaza that have historical significance. In Opera Plaza hundreds of thousands of Romanians gathered there to revolt against Ceauşescu for their freedom. Opera Plaza

  9. Universities in Timişoara • There are 8 universities in Timişoara, 4 of them are private and 4 are public. These Universities are: West University (Public), Polytechnic University (Public), "Victor Babeș" University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Public), Banat's University of Agricultural Sciences (Public), DimitrieCantemir University (Private), Tibiscus University (Private), MihaiEminescu University (Private), IoanSlavici University (Private). West University

  10. Cathedrals in Timişoara • The Orthodox Cathedral is the most amazing Cathedral in Timişoara as it is the tallest Cathedral in Romania and the 8th tallest orthodox Cathedral in the world. If you attend mass at this Cathedral you can see its amazing architecture in the inside.
