OTHERS are coming with Him Many thousands of His HOLYONES “many thousands of holy ones”—angels (Jude 14) The ones who have DIED “We believe that Jesus died and came back to life. We also believe that, through Jesus, God will bring back those who have died. They will come back with Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 4:14 GW) The LIVING saints“First, the dead who believed in Christ will come back to life. Then, together with them, we who are still alive will be taken in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. In this way we will always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 GW) Session 5: Jesus—Our Coming King

Jesus will be VINDICATED—He is the victor! “Every tribe on earth will mourn because of him” Revelation 1:7 The curse on creation will be REMOVED “..that creation would be set free from decay.” Romans 8:21 “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord” Isaiah 11:1 God’s righteous reign will be ESTABLISHEDon earth “The Devil……..could not deceive the nations any more until the thousand years were over.” (Revelation 20:3 GNB) Session 5: Jesus—Our Coming King

  6. All humanity will be JUDGED "These people will go away into eternal punishment, but those with God's approval will go into eternal life." (Matthew 25:46 GW) “All of us must appear in front of Christ's judgment seat. Then all people will receive what they deserve for the good or evil they have done while living in their bodies.”(2 Corinthians 5:10 GW) Satan and sin will be DESTROYED “Then the Devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had already been thrown; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10 GNB) 2. WHAT happens when He comes? Session 5: Jesus—Our Coming King

  7. 3. WHEN will He come? When the time for REPENTANCE has ended “The Lord isn't slow to do what he promised, as some people think. Rather, he is patient for your sake. He doesn't want to destroy anyone but wants all people to have an opportunity to turn to him and change the way they think and act. (2 Peter 3:9 GW) SUDDENLY "Therefore, be alert, because you don't know on what day your Lord will return. (Matthew 24:42 GW) When the job is FINISHED “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a testimony to all nations; and then the end shall come.” (Matthew 24:14) Session 5: Jesus—Our Coming King

  8. SO WHAT? 1. We need to be READY! “After all, God's saving kindness has appeared for the benefit of all people. It trains us to avoid ungodly lives filled with worldly desires so that we can live self-controlled, moral, and godly lives in this present world. At the same time we can expect what we hope for-the appearance of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave himself for us to set us free from every sin and to cleanse us so that we can be his special people who are enthusiastic about doing good things.” (Titus 2:11-14 GW) 2. We need to FINISH the task As long as it is day, we must do what the one who sent me wants me to do. When night comes, no one can work. (John 9:4 CEV) Note: Every NT mention is ethical, not esoteric. Not about puzzle solving or secret knowledge; it’s about holy living: “I had not one conscious thought in the last 40 years that did not include the realization that Christ is coming back soon.”—Lord Shaftesbury Session 5: Jesus—Our Coming King

  9. BAXTER’S PRAYER “Let me live as though Jesus died for me yesterday, rose for me this morning, and is coming back for me tomorrow”—Richard Baxter Session 5: Jesus—Our Coming King
