  1. Welcome to Mrs. Gallagher’s Class 7th Grade Literature and Composition

  2. My Philosophy I firmly believe that ALL students can learn with effective support, guidance, and motivation. It is my goal to make Lit. and Comp. standards and skills understandable in a way that is engaging and meaningful for all students. By connecting learning with real-life applications, my hope is that students will realize that improving their reading and writing skills is crucial for their success in life and is personally rewarding as well.

Overview of 7th Grade Units • Opening Days- Syllabus, Routines, Teamwork, “Book Reveal" assignment • Short Stories and Critical Reading Strategies • Narrative Writing • Fall Novel Study:Home of the Brave (by Katherine Applegate), How to Read Poetry, and Response to Literature Writing • Preparation for 7th Grade Writing Exam- Review of all major writing genres • Expository Writing: Famous Person Research Paper • The Outsiders (by S.E. Hinton) Novel study and Response to Literature Writing • Ongoing: Greek and Latin Roots, Grammar

  6. Step 1: Go to https://sharepoint.ocsarts.net and click on “Student Resources”

  7. Step 2: Click on “Academic”

  8. Step 3: Select the teacher’s name from the alphabetical list

  9. Step 4: Select “7th Lit. and Comp.” from the class options on the left

  10. Step 5: View the home page and click on “Upcoming Assignments and Events” to access our daily agenda

  11. Step 6: View the class work (CW) and homework (HW) for each day, and click on the item to download attachments.
