But before we begin, some background on the Chateau Galliard. It was built by Richard the Lionheart, who was simultaneously King of England and feudal Duke of Normandy. The castle was expensive to build, but the majority of the work was done in an unusually short time, taking only two years. Construction Started in 1196, In what is now Upper Normany, France, The castle changed hands several times but was eventually captured and held by the French.
