  1. Integrating information towards Digital ATM Status of NOTAM Improvement Presented By: Mark Cardwell Date: August 29, 2013

  2. Status of NOTAM Improvement A Pilot’s View

  3. Why it Matters • The broad perception that it is a matter of safety • The assumption that technology is equal to the challenge • The introduction of basic tools • The continuous reminder that much of what is provided is irrelevant

  4. The Actual Threat Risk Volume of “relevant” NOTAMS

  5. What is the Current State of the Art? • Apps that decode “raw” NOTAMs replacing abbreviations with whole words • Relatively basic search tools • More sophisticated sorting and filtering tools (expensive) • No real graphical display options available yet • A general perception that the time is ripe

  6. The Value of Basic Tools • Limited in many regards • Valuable in the sense that it begins to show what’s possible • Must evolve to achieve significant benefits
