Density Exam Review

Density Exam Review. If you placed a 15 cm 3 sized object into 20 mL of water, how much water will be displaced? 15 mL of water. A cube of clay has a density of 1.20 g/cm 3 , if a 25 gram cube of clay was cut in half, what would be the density of each of the pieces?

  1. Density Exam Review

  2. If you placed a 15 cm3 sized object into 20 mL of water, how much water will be displaced? 15 mL of water

  3. A cube of clay has a density of 1.20 g/cm3, if a 25 gram cube of clay was cut in half, what would be the density of each of the pieces? 1.20 g/cm3 = Density DN change!!

  4. If you see the SI units of grams, what parameter does this represent? MASS

  5. If you see the SI units of mL, what parameter does this represent? Volume of a Liquid

  6. If you see the SI units of cm3, what parameter does this represent? Volume of a Solid

  7. If you see the SI units of g/cm3, what parameter does this represent? Density of a Solid If you see the SI units of g/mL, what parameter does this represent? Density of a Liquid

  8. Maple Wood (D = 0.669 g/cm3) Granite (D = 2.163 g/cm3) Tungsten (D = 18.80 g/cm3) All three were thrown into water, which would float? Maple Wood Which would sink? Granite & Tungsten

  9. Your swan ice sculpture is approximately 250 cm3 in size. If the density of ice is 0.9167 g/cm3 then what is it’s mass? M = Dv = (0.9167 g/cm3)(250 cm3) = 229.18 g

  10. A piece of copper was found to have a mass of 117 g - what is it’s volume? D = 8.96 g/cm3 V = m/D = 117 g / 8.96 g/cm3 = 13.06 cm3

  11. A object has a mass of 25.00 g and a volume of 10 cm3 - what is the object made out of? D = m/v = 25 g / 10 cm3 = 2.5 g/cm3 = GLASS
