  1. Washington County Public Schools Salary Scale Adjustments

  2. Teacher Salaries I recommend to add $1,434 to every Step on the Teacher Salary Scale (3% at Step 13) • Improves Step 0 to $44,434 and Step 24 to $67,297 (plus the off Step Stipend of $2,500) • Increases our regional ranking to 6that Beginning Teacher pay and 4th at top of the scale pay •

  3. Administrative Salaries • Most Central Office Administrative Scales are competitive regionally except Non-Instructional Supervisors • Most Building Level Administrative Scales are not competitive regionally except High School Principals • I recommend the competitive scales be adjusted by $1,434 • I recommend the savings generated by this adjustment be applied to the non-competitive scales • This change still allows a net savings of a little over $10,000

  4. Remaining Scales • I recommend we collapse the 2 Bus Driver scales into 1, pay mid-day drivers a Bus Driver rate and increase Extra Trip rates to $20 per hour • As we develop salary scales next year, we will dive deep and compare all scales against the region • In the meantime, I recommend an across the board 3% raise for all other contracted employees • Additionally, I recommend that Teacher Aides working on a Temp Form and Non-Licensed Substitute Teachers hourly rates be adjusted to $14 per hour ($105 per day). • I recommend Licensed Substitute Teachers be paid $16.67 per hour ($125 per day).

  5. The “Bonus” • Using the savings generated by adjusting the administrative scales as suggested, I further recommend we use the ~ $10,000 to create an incentive program that recognizes exemplary work of individual employees • We would love to have Board input as to what this incentive program might look like • An example might be providing one hundred $100 awards that honor employees for going above and beyond the call of duty
