  4. MATERNAL TWINS

  5. Identical twins start out as genetically identical as they have the same genes. They are formed by a fertilized egg dividing into two separate individuals. They are always of the same sex.

  6. FRATERNAL TWINS

  7. They can be of same or different gender and are not identical. Fraternal twins can share many similarities in appearance just like any brother or sister of the same family.

  8. MIRROR IMAGE TWINS

  9. This type of twins are identical but mirror images of each other. There is no specific test for determining if twins are mirror-image.

  10. CONJOINED TWINS

  11. Conjoined twins are two babies who are born physically connected to each other. They develop when an early embryo only partially separates to form two individuals. Most conjoined twins die before or shortly after they’re born.

  12. SEMI IDENTICAL TWINS

  13. Thistype of twin is the result of two separate sperms fertilizing a single egg. To survive, this egg then split up into two parts with each half having exactly the right number of chromosomes.
