  1. Becoming a Sleep Consultant Baby Sleep, Career Change, Childcare Experience, Entrepeneur, Newborn, Parenting, Sleep Consulting, Sleep Training, Toddler Sleep training has been around for a long time, and it has gained popularity in the last ten years as more parents become aware that having a baby does not equal never sleeping again! In my career as a nanny, I first encountered sleep training at a date night babysitting job when mom warned me her 10-month-old might wake up while she was gone and instructed me not to go comfort her right away; her baby woke up once and went back to sleep five minutes later without my intervention. For a long time, I had the concept of babies sleeping independently in the back of my mind as I had many little ones sleeping on me, or crying when I put them down, as parents had me look after their children during the daytime so they could get some much-needed rest and I thought of what I could do to help. Following the parents' lead was always important to me as a nanny but my instincts always pointed toward minimizing stress not only for the adults but for the babies I had under my care.
