  2. Customer Service • Expanded the number of weekly and daily trips on four Gold Country Stage Routes • Expanded the use of Tele-Works Voice Response system to CDA for Haz Mat first responder notification and for automated building inspection scheduling for contractors

  3. Customer Service • Simplified the Sign Ordinance for applicants • Completed the Wildlife Care Facilities Ordinance allowing zoning for such facilities and operation with a proper permit

  4. Customer Service • Implemented the Business Assistance Loan Program • Resumed operation of the Grass Valley Veterans Building with the intent of developing it into a thriving community asset • Completed 275 Employee Recruitments

  5. Community Collaboration • Worked with Nevada City Council and Tahoe-Truckee Park and Rec District to limit the sale of tobacco products to minors and to reduce second hand smoke exposure • Collaborated with Superintendent of Schools, Nevada County Community Leadership Institute, and Teen Advocates to launch Nevada County’s teen website (Ncteen.com)

  6. Community Collaboration • Worked with Sierra College, Contractors Association and Golden Sierra to provide a two week Construction Boot Camp to train entry-level construction workers • Reduced County euthanasia rates to 2.4% through close collaboration with community animal welfare groups

  7. Community Collaboration • Collaborated with local Law Enforcement and Fire Agencies to purchase an Emergency Command Vehicle for use as an on-site communications center • Coordinated Operation Clean Sweep with local Law Enforcement Agencies, the Court and Union Newspaper to aggressively pursue and reduce outstanding warrants

  8. Community Collaboration • Co-sponsored the second annual Community Reading Event, Epitaph for a Peach, by David Mas Masumoto with the Superintendent of Schools and Foothill Theater Company

  9. Leadership Key Appointments: • Public Health Officer • Behavioral Health Director • Environmental Health Director • Agricultural Commissioner • Emergency Services Manger

  10. Leadership • Nevada County’s Treasurer-Tax Collector was named Chair of her Association’s 2007 Education Conference • Child Support Services maintained its prominence as a state regional training center • County Counsel, Rob Shulman was installed as President of his Statewide Association

  11. Leadership • Human Resources provided mandatory Customer Service Training to all employees • County Counsel successful argued a “cy pres” case allowing for a $200,000 donation for animal rescue to be claimed by County Animal Control

  12. Projects Infrastructure: • Completed the Magnolia Multipurpose Path • Completed slide repairs on Gaston and Pleasant Valley Road, and completed the Alison Ranch emergency bypass • Began Lake Wildwood and Lake of the Pines Wastewater Treatment Plant construction

  13. Projects Capital Facilities: • Completed the Capital Facilities Master Plan • Began the Jail Expansion needs assessment • Completed Department moves and remodels • Completed the Construction and Demolition Drop-off Facility at the Transfer Station

  14. Projects • Began Installation of mobile data terminals in patrol vehicles • Replaced the old 911 phone systems in Truckee and Nevada City with state of the art equipment • Coordinated clean up of the high pressure petroleum pipeline failure in Soda Springs area

  15. Projects • Added Nextel, Sprint & Metro PCS to the County’s Madelyn Helling Library cell tower increasing service to area cell phone users and providing $56,400 in additional revenue to the County • Implemented electronic personnel action forms (epa)

  16. Grants • Foster Care Youth Independent Living Program expansion $50,000 • Obesity and Diabetes Prevention $30,000 • Child Protective Services Differential Response $38,000

  17. Grants • Senior Outreach $216,000 over 4 years • Eligibility Video Conferencing $18,000 • Office of Traffic Safety $72,000 • Used Oil Opportunity Funds $156,000

  18. Grants • Mosquito Abatement Services $90,000 • Youth Drug Prevention $500,000 over 5 years • Mentally Ill Crime Reduction for adults and juveniles $1.4 million

  19. Recognition • Nevada County received the 2006 CSAC Challenge Award for Nevada County’s Local Materials Exchange Program • Nevada County won the 2006 Award of Excellence for Facility Management from the California Counties Facilities Service Association • Nevada County received a Certificate of Excellence from the State for timely registration of births

  20. Recognition • Nevada County was recognized in the National Center for Youth Law Report as third in the State for meeting key Child Welfare Federal Standards • Nevada County received second place honors in the Digital Counties Survey for a third year in a row
