  1. Master in Engineering Design Air Conditioning Active Distribution System Cinema Case Study Decision Analysis (DA) José Gaspar 5 January 2005 ACADS Decision Model

  2. Problem Description • Cinema closed without a renovating project defined; • Cinema intervention in the air conditioning system; • Cinema future decided on the beginning of this year; • Alternatives presented by the cinema owner: • Maintain the three rooms; • Split the area in to a big room and a smaller one; • Return to the original project (one single room). ACADS Decision Model

  3. Decision support • Propose an innovating air conditioning system, which: • Reduce exploring costs; • Increase cinema appeal to the public; • Serve as a marketing due to his innovation abilities: • Excellent reaction time to occupancy changes; • Low energy consumption; • Thermo experience of the room; ACADS Decision Model

  4. Multicriteria Methodology • Characterization of the decision context • Definition of screening and evaluation criteria ACADS Decision Model

  5. Multicriteria Methodology • Introduction of the options on the MACBETH model. ACADS Decision Model

  6. Multicriteria Methodology • Construction of a descriptor of impacts for each evaluation criterion • Definition of descriptors of plausible impacts; • Definition of levels of reference “Good” and “Neutral”; ACADS Decision Model

  7. Multicriteria Methodology • Construction of a descriptor of impacts for each evaluation criterion • Building value functions; Qualitative descriptor for the air distribution balancing (FPV) ACADS Decision Model

  8. Multicriteria Methodology • Construction of a descriptor of impacts for each evaluation criterion • Building value functions; Matrix of qualitative judgements (Air distribution balancing) ACADS Decision Model

  9. Multicriteria Methodology • Construction of a descriptor of impacts for each evaluation criterion • Building value functions; ACADS Decision Model

  10. Multicriteria Methodology • Determination of relative weights • Macbeth weighting process Qualitative judgements for the swings ACADS Decision Model

  11. Multicriteria Methodology • Impact appraisal and partial evaluation of the alternatives • Alternative impacts • Ranking of the alternatives in each evaluation criterion ACADS Decision Model

  12. Multicriteria Methodology • Calculation of the overall value of each alternative • Alternative impacts • Ranking of the alternatives in each evaluation criterion ACADS Decision Model

  13. Benefits Against Costs ACADS Decision Model
