  4. Miserable: unhappy Jack was miserable because he was so sick that he missed the fieldtrip to Universal Studios.

  5. Mumbled: Said unclearly Chase always mumbled under his breath and no one could understand him.

  10. Partner Rate & Review-5 mintues • Divide your words between you and your partner and test each other on the vocabulary. • If your partner doesn’t know the word read them the definition and meaningful sentence.

The characters in these stories have to try and come up with a solution to their problem Why didn’t Wesley have any friends? • Use think-pair-share to think of reasons why he doesn’t have friends • Retell the story to your partner

Teamwork-15 minutes • Preview Team Talk Questions • Take 2 minutes to survey the text and pick 2 words you want to clarify • Partner read pages 400 - 401 with one partner reading a page and the other partner retelling what was read. • Identify the problems and solution the character deals with. • Discuss and Answer team talk questions • Answer questions 2 and 3 in your journals • Discuss answer with class

  15. Adventures in Writing-10 minutes • Writing prompt: Would you like to plant your own garden? Give two reasons to support your response.

  16. Vocabulary Activity-5 minutes • Multiple Choice Practice • Review answers

  17. Fluency – 10 minutes • Read page 400 • Rate your partners fluency based on fluency rubric • Be positive and constructive.
