  3. Directive 2003/59/EC of 15 July 2003 Training of professional drivers • Initial qualification • Periodic training

  4. For whom? • Drivers engaged in road transportation • with C, C1, C+E • or D, D1, D+E • Over 3.5 tonnes • So not for drivers of campers, mobile homes and mobile cranes

  5. Initial qualification • Option combining both course attendance and a test/option • Initial qualification / accelerated initial qualification

  6. Periodic training • Periodicity/driving licence Directive • 35 hours every 5 years • content in Annex 1

  7. Annex 1 2003/59 • 1. Advanced training in rational driving based on safety regulations • 2. Application of regulations • 3. Health, roads and environmental safety, service, logistics

  8. Annex II 2000/56 • Driving hours • Documentation • Weight and dimensions • Securing of loads • Construction of combustion engines • Preventive maintenance of vehicles • Transport conditions

  13. Practical tests PT1: (1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 3.2, 3.3, 3.5) • 9 scenarios • Pre trip preparation • Emergency measures • Loading • Aggression • Illegal trafficking • 30 minutes

  14. Practical test PT2: • 7 scenarios • Starting on mirror adjustment place • Finish all scenarios without touching poles

  15. Periodic Training: • Training should have maximum added value • System should offer maximum flexibility and tailor-made solutions

  16. Periodic training, structure • Introduction of a “Menu system”, offering freedom of choice • CCV, Labour Market Parties and Ministry yearly determine list of approved training categories • CCV certifies Training institutes

  17. Examples • ADR • BBS • Eco driving • Truck mounted crane • Social skills for drivers • ………….

  18. Periodic training, process • CCV certifies the approved courses for a period of 5 years • Supervision through system of pre-registration and sampling
