  4. Is interworking inside the scope of 802.11 • Yes, it defines the functions of a public access Wireless Ethernet interface. • Yes, similar approach to TGf : signalling to enable communications between access points. Stephen McCann & Max Riegel, Siemens

  8. Interworking : What ? • Seems to be a lot of interest here. • What can WNG do ? • Look at current 802.11 functions/interfaces • What additions are required to meet W-ISP & Cellular requirements (3GPP and 3GPP2) • Come up with a model which matches the external networks of all these guys. Stephen McCann & Max Riegel, Siemens

  9. What do you mean ? • 802.11 requires some work in the access network to define external interfaces • TGe, TGf, TGi and TGk have started to do this already with functions. • Need to look at Accounting as mentioned yesterday • Let‘s start by looking at issues in the 3GPP requirements document. • Must also address W-ISP and 3GPP2 Stephen McCann & Max Riegel, Siemens

  12. Roadmap • Create TG to produce Recommended Practice (RP) • @Singapore : review PAR & 5Criteria. • Work towards a RP skeleton document incorporating the requirements of 3GPP SA2. • @San Francisco : Present documents to WNG and WG Plenary. Stephen McCann & Max Riegel, Siemens

  13. Liaison from 3GPP SA2 • Black Box Requirements • Network Discovery (SSID) • RADIUS/Diameter • Uniform service levels for hotspots • For more info : 11-03-194r0-WNG-3GPP-Implicit-Reqts-WLAN-BlackBox.doc Stephen McCann & Max Riegel, Siemens

  14. Response to 3GPP Liaison • What should the WNG actions be. • Propose liaison response : • Immediate full reply • 2 stage reply. Liaison indicating direction followed by a detailed response later. • Look at 11-03-226r0 (draft liaison) Stephen McCann & Max Riegel, Siemens
