  3. What do we do in this class? We learn about marketing by doing projects We work together to come up with ideas We help each other to conduct research about what the consumer wants We create a product to sell to them Marketing = money

COLLEGE SPORTS REVENUE RESEARCH FANTASY TEAM DESIGN: slogan, mascot, jersey, logo, name DRAFT TEAM COLLEGE RESEARCH: top 5 teams, history of success MARKET RESEARCH PROJECT ENERGY BAR PROJECT SALARY PROJECT: create bar graph MSG PROJECT WEB-SITE CRITIQUE PUBLIC RELATIONS: 9-month calendar SPORTS DRINK: mid-term MEDIA PROJECT: TV, radio, billboard, print, (web) NEW SPORT PROJECT TRADING CARDS, PROFILES SPORTS MEMORABILIA HISTORY PROJECT TRIVIA/ESPN DRILL STADIUM PROJECT NEW RIDE PROJECT ODD SPORTS RESEARCH CAREER REPORT PROGRAM FOR TEAM SLOGANS FOR HS TEAMS OWNER RESEARCH WRITE SPORTS ARTICLE NEW SPORTS RELATED PRODUCT: final exam

  5. What materials do I need? A spiral notebook and file folder is needed for note taking and for holding project work. You are expected to bring a pen/pencil every day. Supplies for project work may be required during the year.

  6. What is our first project? FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT

What are the classroom rules? • Be prepared for class each day. • Appropriate business-like language is expected. •  It is expected that you will remain in your seat until the bell rings. • The course is based on project assessments.  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to see me for a make-up date. • Watch your absences carefully; they are to be used for emergencies only. • You are expected to be "alive" in class each day. • The ability to work in teams and groups is expected.

  11. I will not hesitate to remove any student who does not follow my rules!

Grading Classwork/projects -85% • Based on a point system • Getting assignments in on time is crucial • Do not miss any assignments • Make them up in extra help period Participation-15% • Just being here is not participation • There is always something for you to do • You all start with a 100 • Every example of non participation gets you a 10 point deduction
