  1. When most of the lubricants are present in liquid state, some of them also exist in solid state. Just like general liquid lubricants are used in wide ranges in different segments. Solid lubricants which are also referred as dry lubricants. It is a material made of thin film. It exists in powder format that is equally used in various segments. Such lubricants are also used to reduce the possible friction that may exist in machinery. It can also be used to wear of the friction between the contacting surfaces when it is in relative motion. By producing right amount of greasing, it provides protection from damages. Just like normal lubricants like Bright stock 150, low aromatic white spirit suppliers solid lubricants can be equally used for the same purpose. When Solid lubricants are used in dedicated and special niche only but it is used for similar purposes and that is for reducing wear. Particularly it is used in situations where the use of liquid lubricants is not appropriate. It is used in cases when liquid lubricants either impractical or inadequate. This may be conditions of vacuum, space technology or automotive transport. This lubricant is required for lubrication under extreme conditions and this may be conditions where the bearing surfaces exist in tribological contact. Solid lubricants are often used in applications when high & specific loads are applied to sliding surfaces in terms of mixed frictional regimes.

  2. Reciprocating motion – This is a typical application when the there exist continuous sliding or reciprocating motion. This is application where lubrication can minimize the wear. This may include application such as gear or chain lubrication. In such cases lubricants like Base oil sn150 may not be effectively used because in such cases, liquid lubricants generally squeeze out while solid lubricants will not escape. The solid lubricants help prevent fretting, corrosion, or galling. Ceramics –Another solid lubricants which may be used in applications where chemically active lubricant additives are not generally been found. Such lubricants can work well for a particular surface and this may include polymers and ceramics. In High temperature – Some of the solid lubricants such as Graphite and MoS2 may also be used as lubricants in case when it is to operated in high temperature or in oxidizing atmosphere environments. It is the case where liquid lubricants typically can not survive. Such typical applications may include fasteners. In such cases, solid lubricants can easily tightened and unscrewed even when they stay for long time at high temperatures. Extreme contact pressures – It can be used popularly in case of lamellar structure. This can be used in orients parallel or sliding surfaces. When solid lubricants are used in such cases it may result in high bearing-load that may be used in combination with a low

  3. shear stress. Most applications of solid liquid may apply in extreme contact pressure conditions. This may include condition when metal forming involve plastic deformation. When not to use dry lubricants? Dry lubricants can be used specifically in conditions and applications where liquid lubricants cannot be used. Solid lubricants or dry lubricant has their own set of applications. In cases when general lubricants like White spirit, Base oil, may create hindrance. Use of solid liquid must also be avoided in cases when any surfaces are to be exposed to solvents or any other type of liquids. It is because in such cases the liquid lubricants may simply wipe out or wash away and dry liquid may remain intact. Dry lubricant is available in various forms and it may be used as per required application.
