  4. The Poverty Line • The American government defines poverty as a family of four living on an income of less than $ 21,832. • Considering the costs to America of housing, utilities, transportation, food, health care and child care. Even that income seems too small.

  5. Thee percentage of children living in poverty has risen drastically in the last ten years especially in the south. • 19.0 percent of individuals under age 18 lived in poverty. • YouTube Clip

  6. In 2008, according to the official measure, 39.8 million people, 13.2 percent of the total U.S. population, lived in poverty. • YouTube Clip

  9. Unfortunately, it appears as though most American’s will not be able to find themselves on the right side of the poverty line
