What is a Title I school? • The purpose of parental involvement under Title I, Part A is to promote active involvement among local educational agencies (LEAs), administrators, school staff, parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders working to improve student achievement and promote academic success.

  5. What are our school’s title I requirements? At McDonough High, we are required to: • Involve parents in the development and annual revision of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan and School-Parent Compact. • Involve parents in the development and annual revision of the Schoolwide Plan • Notify parents of their Right to Know their teacher’s qualifications. • Build parent capacity through engaging workshops and resources that assist parents in increasing student achievement.

  6. What is our school’s Designation Status? • Designation Status Under the EsEA waiver, Mcdonough high has no designation as a focus school. McDonough High is a school- wide Title I school. In a school-wide, ALL STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM THE TITLE I RESOURCES. • What does this status mean? The Georgia Department of Education applied for a waiver seeking relief from the federal No Child Left Behind Act. As a result, the United States Department of Education agreed to use a new system, the College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), to report the progress of Georgia's public schools. In January 2013 the Georgia Department of Education released the final list of indicators on which schools will receive a CCRPI score. CCRPI 2018

Mcdonough high’s Schoolwide program Schoolwide goals • Students will increase in the Lexile score by 5% during the 2019-2020 school year through a development of an effective literacy plan across content areas. • McDonough High School will develop and implement an effective communication plan among all stakeholders. • During the 2019-2020 school year, McDonough High School will reduce the number of disciplinary referrals by 5% by fully Implementing the PBIS program. What programs/supports are in place to help students? • Tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school with transportation home • FEV tutoring program

  9. What test will my student be taking? How do these test measure my student’s progress? GMAS Map Testing Course Unit Test Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. the Measure of Academic Progress, is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth. Completion of Course Subject Test Test given at end of each course to show completion. We expect for student’s to meet Proficiency levels. Which is 80% or higher.

  10. What support is provided to the English language learners? How are students screened for esol services? What are the WIDA Standards? How will we support our EL parents? When a student enrolls in Henry County Schools and indicates a language other than English on the Home Language Survey or registration form, eligibility screening for language services must begin. Georgia is a member of the WIDA Consortium. All members of the WIDA Consortium utilize the same screeners to assess eligibility for language assistance services. Henry County uses the WIDA-ACCESS Placement Test (W-APT). Standard 1 – Social and Instructional LanguageEnglish language learners communicate for social and instructional purposes within the school setting. Standard 2 – Language of Language ArtsEnglish language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of language arts. Standard 3 – Language of MathematicsEnglish language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of mathematics. Standard 4 – Language of ScienceEnglish language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of science. Standard 5 – Language of Social StudiesEnglish language learners communicate information, ideas and concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of social studies. When a parents indicates a language other than English is spoken at home, the school will make every reasonable effort to communicate (translations and interpreters) in the language. Our school’s Title I Program is for ALL parents including parents of our EL students. This includes invitations to attend our Parent Workshops and meetings as well as access to the Parent Resource Center.

  15. How responsive will the school be to my questions when staff is contacted? • We strive to keep an open door and open line of communication with our parents at all times. When contacting teachers please allow 24-48 hrs to return calls.
