Programme Development Since 1997, cooperation with a number of UN agencies has been implementing a a Gender Statistics Programme (GSP) for African countries to their capabilities in the production, use and dissemination of gender statistics to lead to more effective policies promoting change for the benefit of women and the advancement of society as a whole GSP activities have commenced on both the regional and national levels in many African countries

National Workshops & Country Reports • Under the umbrella of the Government of Uganda, UN, etc list all efforts towards the attainment of gender SDG 5 in Uganda, such as: • National reports on gender issues • national strategies for improving gender statistics • Work plans • Development of National Gender Statistics Programmes • National workshops bringing together users and producers to statistics to discuss national gender issues and priorities and data requirements • Census and surveys. Reports of these projects included gender statistics: national work plans, overviews of national workshops and challenges in the preparation of national statistical reports 16

MGLSD? • Supported by UNECA?, UNDP? • Implemented in coordination with Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) • Undertaken in collaboration with UNDP and other UN agencies • Includes a number of capacity-building activities and statistical outputs

  18. Exercise • List all the Engendering statistics initiatives taken in Uganda since 2010 • Discuss achievements • Discuss challenges • Propose a way forward on engendering statistical initiatives in Uganda
