MP 2: ROLES AND FUNCTIONS Primary Responsibility: Provide and maintain mission ready force both at home station and in expeditionary environments First Sergeant Duties Examples: Promote health, morale and welfare. Advise/assist the CC in maintaining discipline/standards Perform quality force reviews on awards, decorations, promotions and disciplinary actions.

  5. MP 2: ROLES AND FUNCTIONS Additional Duties AFI 36-2113, para 10.1 “first sergeants must not be assigned duties other than those contained in their specialty description in the Air Force Enlisted Classification directive”

MP 3: ANG UNIQUE ISSUES Drill Two Days a Month We Have at Least Two Jobs Military and Civilian Different Personnel Statuses AGR, DSG and Technician State (Title 32) and Federal (Title 10) Title 32 Members fall under State Code of Military Justice (SCMJ) or State Laws Title 10 Members fall under Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ)

  7. MP 4: ESTABLISHING A PLAN Full-Time Commitment / Mindset (24/7) Your wing & unit must know when and how to contact you when you are not on duty Command Post Commanders Chief and Unit personnel What is your plan for communication? Note: It is a two-way process!

MP 5: KEY RELATIONSHIPS Commander Direct supervisor State Command Chief Exercise general supervision over first sergeant program within their state Wing Command Chief Installation functional manager for first sergeants Chief of Operations Highest enlisted position within unit, responsible for operational issues

MP 5: KEY RELATIONSHIPS • Enlisted Personnel • All enlisted personnel within your unit • First Sergeant Council • Consists of all first sergeants to include additional duty • Support Agencies • Examples: Family Support, SFS, CE, Services • Key Unit Personnel • Examples: Training Managers, UDM, UCA

MP 5: KEY RELATIONSHIPS Enlisted Field Advisory Council (EFAC) ANGI 36-2601 Enlisted voice of the ANG Provides feedback on enlisted programs Anyone can submit an issue Preferred method is to submit action items through the CCM Action items are forwarded to the Council Council made up of Chairperson and Co-chairperson, 6 Regional Coordinators, and advisors from 1st Air Force and the ANG First Sergeant Functional Manager This is your way of working issues at the national level
