  1. KZN Provincial Suppliers Database Re-registration Presented by : KZN Provincial Treasury SCM Unit

  2. Introduction • A supplier database is a central source of information on qualified suppliers from whom government can procure goods and services • Provincial Practice Note SCM-01 of 2006 • Bids/quotations submitted by non-registered suppliers are disqualified

  3. Objectives of a database • To assist government in selecting screened suppliers • To identify prospective suppliers • To maintain supplier information • To protect government from fraudulent suppliers • To augment implementation of preferential procurement policies • To enhance reporting on achievement of preferential procurement objectives • To ensure available suppliers are utilized within KZN • To ensure revenue circulates within the Province

  4. Why the new database? • Lack of clarity of suppliers core business • Lack of information on supplier locations • Outdated/Incorrect supplier information • Incompleteness of information • Lacks reporting capabilities for measuring BBBEE spend • No interface with organisations (SARS, CIPRO, CIDB) • Rotation of Suppliers • Inactive/Dormant Suppliers • Inability of old database to provide Real-Time applications e.g. SMS notifications on expiry date of Tax Clearance Certificates

  5. Re-registration Process • Currently registered suppliers must all re- register • Old ZNT numbers are valid until a new registration number is issued • Suppliers who have never registered (new suppliers) must submit their application forms • A letter with a provisional registration number will be issued to new suppliers • A new registration number will be sent to all registered suppliers by sms • Suppliers will have to update information on an annual basis

  6. Important information Forms are available at: • Treasury House – Database Section,145 Commercial Road , PMBURG • Electronically – www.kzntreasury.gov.za ,select “New Application For Registration Form” • Completed forms must be posted (registered mail) • Forms can also be submitted at Provincial Treasury, Pietermaritzburg
