Altair and the rest of the Gemini Telescope High level of vibrations from NIRI cryo-coolerscoupled to Altair through the ISS M2 6-fold symetry print-through DM reliable but electronics not so great and customer service poor Science-fold mirror vibrates No closed-loop active optics Lenslet array NIRI OIWFS not very useful Altair Lots of ICDs, not always correct

  4. Other findings • Problem with Gemini data network • Electronic environment fairly noisy • EPICS very useful for debugging (“stripTool”) • Temperature in Altair never very low • Very helpful support from day crew • Gemini AO group is strong but overwhelmed • Altair was shipped “early”
