  6. Labels • Tell what kind of data or information is shown in the graph • Go on the left side of the graph • Examples • Amy, Brett, Catherine, David • Spruce Tree, Birch Tree, Poplar Tree

  7. Symbols • A picture that stands for a certain number of objects • A picture can stand for more than one! • Examples:

  8. Key! • Tells how many each symbol stands for • Examples • stands for 5 books • stands for 3 trees • = 2 apples
