  1. Temple of Heaven in Beijing: A Masterpiece of Chinese Architecture Ming Temple, Tian Tan or Temple of Heaven was built by Emperor Yongle dedicated to serveing as a setting to perform important rituals by the Emperor, or the Son of Heaven (as called at that time). The main motive to build this structure was to pray to heaven for a good harvest and perform the holy Winter Solstice ceremony, an event that guaranteed favourable years for the entire kingdom. http://beijingtransfertour.com/

  2. In old days, it was believed that the sky was round and the land was square, so the architecture of the buildings (round, was set on square bases) and the design of the park (in the square Temple of the end of the Earth, and rounded Temple of Heaven final) that reflect this belief. The Temple of Heaven tour Beijing is rich in symbolic details, with variations on the number nine, which represented the emperor; colored enamels that represent heaven and earth; and the pillars that represent the months of the year, the seasons and the weather http://beijingtransfertour.com/

  3. During the reign of Qing and Ming dynasties, the place served as a site of the imperial sacrifice made to the Heavenly Emperor Tian Di. The emperor had to perform the biggest and highest sacrifice towards the "Supreme Sovereign of the Universe" on the day of the winter solstice. The temple started to be built in 1406 and it took around 14 long years to complete its construction. Furthermore, it was later on enlarged by other emperors Qing Qianlong (1736-1796) and Jiaqing (1796-1820). The area of this temple is around twice the area of the Imperial Palace. http://beijingtransfertour.com/

  4. Purpose of the Temple of Heaven The magnificent structure was the place where the Emperor communicated with the gods. Only the ruler of China, who was considered the son of Heaven, could turn to the higher forces, could turn to them with the request of well-being and prosperity for the whole country. Twice a year during the solstice, the ruler of China went to the Temple with his courtiers to pray and offer sacrifices. http://beijingtransfertour.com/

  5. The rite of passage was of paramount importance. Ordinary people did not have the opportunity to join in their requests to the Emperor, but they were looking forward to the news about how the ceremony was held. From a successful ceremony, it was expected that the gods would send the harvest, wring evils from all the people. http://beijingtransfertour.com/
