Voice of Nursing Current Work Highlight Inspiration Team: • Big Bang Roll Out in all departments on May 6th with managers distributing the KP Nursing Model badge to staff. • Rolled out during Nurses Week celebration. • Week long Nurse’s week celebration with each nursing department show casing their professional pride at different day of the week. • Individual departments had large VON poster boards in their units • Huddle topic for the week focused on vision of nursing. • National Nursing Pin recognition awarded to10 extraordinary nurses. • VON T-shirt for all team members and VON champions worn throughout Nurses week. • Revitalized OMC recognition program such as DAISY, Everyday Hero and OMC spirit awards. • Documentary of nurses and their stories. • 2015 Nurses week event

  10. Voice of Nursing Current Work Infrastructure Team: Infrastructure team are in the process of finalizing a master certification and degree tracking system. In the process of finalizing recognition program for certification. In the process of integrating the different nursing committee In the process of setting up Professional Council Committee. Exploring options for standardizing communication tree. Most department have Idea book used for sharing professional information.

  12. Voice of Nursing Current Work Education Team Education structured VON theme into smaller modules allowing time for managers and staff to understand the concept of VON. So far have rolled out 7 module the last one was rolled out end of March. They also generated monthly huddle topics that highlight the particular VON value for the month. They also attached videos that illustrate the values of the nursing profession. In the process of finalizing a professional portfolio for nurses.

  16. Voice of Nursing Current Work: Evaluation Evaluation Team: Evaluation Team developed a survey monkey pre-assessment. Post assessment to be conducted in the months of March/April this year. They are also analyzing HCAHPS on nursing communication and responsiveness of staff. Evaluation of HCAHPS Pain dimension. Both ED and Ambulatory department are tracking their ASQ and NRC scores.

What We Have Learned…. • Make it fun instead of just another initiatives attracted interest and curiosity of staff. • Keep staff engaged. • Use champions and UBT • Reward and recognition is very important in boosting moral. • Keeping managers engaged helps to keep staff engaged. Some of our unexpected challenges included EBOLA. • In other to meet the demands for the EBOLA training attention shifted. • Another challenge was engaging ambulatory partners. • Very important to get other important stakeholders buy in such as physicians.

  21. What We Need Help With… • Continue to share best practices across the region. • Offer sponsorship for frontline and middle managers to attend nursing quality and VON conferencesor other professional organization conferences.
