  2. Introduction Introduction Oil Filters may experience failures due to minor or major faults. Minor faults are sometimes repairable but in case of major faults filters are replaced. To find the prevention and solution to the fault, it becomes mandatory to understand the fault in the oil filter.

  3. Common Faults And Preventions • Clogging - When filters are not changed for long, thick layer of carbon, and other impurities causes blocking or clogging in them. Due to which oil is not filtered properly. • Prevention - Frequent filter inspection and timely filter replacement can prevent filter clogging. Therefore, If usage of machine is high the filter should get replaced more often.

The filter can also get damaged due to repeated change of flow cycles inside the system. • Prevention - the controlled exertion of filters and replacement of damaged filter to a low pressure area can help prevent the fault.

The pressure bursts the filter sheet and destroys it as a result the filter can become useless. • Prevention - oil pressure rate should also be recorded to check the oil pressure is suitable for filter. Also oil sample analysis should be done to inspect the presence of contaminants in the oil.
