The program Mercati Aperti (literally “Open Markets”) is a program of the Single Programming Document Objective 2 of the Italian Region Friuli Venezia Giulia 2000 - 2006 co-financed by the Region itself and by the European Regional Development Fund References: Measure 2 “Enlargement and competitiveness of the enterprises’ system" Priority 2.3.2 “Economic Animation Intervention b) Animation in favour of internationalisation”

  3. Tasks • To support SMEs internationalisation in the target areas • To disseminate information about business opportunities in foreign markets • To promote the establishment of new trade and/or production relations for local SMEs • To enhance success stories

  4. Implementing Bodies Temporary Companies Grouping of Mercati Aperti made up of • Finest • Informest • Agemont • Chamber of Commerce of Udine • BIC (Business Innovation Center) – Sviluppo Italia FVG

Target 2.500 SMEs located in Objective 2 and Temporary Support eligible areas of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia Sectors: industry, crafts and production services Also companies belonging to sectors normally excluded from the state aid regime (food processing, textile, iron metallurgy, marinemechanics) may benefit from Mercati Aperti The agricultural sector is not eligible

Activities - 1 • Opening of “Punti di Informazione Presidiati - PIP” (Information Points) in the Objective 2 areas at full disposal of eligible enterprises • Collecting information on internationalisation opportunities • Seminars and conferences focused on strategic internationalisation issues • Foreign potential company check-up

Activities - 2 • Bilateral meetings with foreign companies • Technical assistance on the field for dynamic interested companies • Technical assistance for company support infrastructures in the target areain the field of internationalisation • Financing sources available for international activities

  8. Working Methodology - 1 Partnerships and networks In Italy and abroad cooperation with • Enterprises’ associations • Chambers of Commerce • Service Centers • Local bodies Circulation of internal expertise of Mercati Aperti and multiplication of initiatives and opportunities

  9. Working Methodology - 2 Services accessible to groups of companies • Market researches • Participation in trade fairs • Missions abroad

  10. Priority Countries • New Member States: Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia; • Accession countries (Bulgaria and Romania); • Western Balkan Countries; • Russian Federation and New Independent States
