  1. THE NEW SNAPCHAT?

  2. Have you heard of Tik Tok, perhaps on an advert while watching a Youtube video or while randomly scrolling through Facebook? If you haven't, maybe you've heard of this one: musical.ly? Yes, they are the same. Musical.ly re-branded to Tik Tok after being acquired by ByteDance in November 2017. Why is this being mentioned to you now? Tik Tok is worth your attention because according to new research from apptopia, Tik Tok generating significant growth in downloads in the last three months; amounting to about 20% worldwide. Tik Tok currently has more downloads than Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube.

  3. Right now, Tik Tok has 130 million users and is steadily growing. The app's popularity is partly due to it filling the gap left by the fall of both Vine and musical.ly; two apps which promote sharing of fun, 15-second video clips by different users globally. Furthermore, Tik Tok received a boost in users with the introduction of its Reactions feature, which enables users to post their video responses which play alongside original clips. South Korean boy group Seventeen is already hosting short shows to appeal to younger audiences, which suggests that perhaps Tik Tok plans on expanding opportunities, like advertisements, in the future. If the app can maintain its momentum, it can be a significant consideration for marketing brands, especially if they plan to target younger age groups.

  4. The data suggest that Tik Tok can follow in Snapchat's footsteps, but it could also fall alongside Vine. ByteDance may need to diversify its offering and provide marketing tools. It's still in its early days, but Tik Tok looks like an app to watch next year. Source: https://digitalmarketingauthority.blogspot.com/2018/11/tik-tok-new- snapchat.html
