4. You are expected to be able to write... • Well-organized and expressive essays. • Three major types of essays • Argumentative essays • Comparison/contrast essays • Cause-effect essays

Satisfactory class performance means ... • Attending the class. • Paying attention to the class. • Don’t talk (unless I say so) • Don’t sleep (even though I say so) • Don’t use the computer (unless I say so) • Turning in your writing assignment on time. • They don’t call it a ‘deadline’ for nothing. • There’s a penalty for late assignments. • Maintaining the good quality of the assignment.

8. What else ? • Plagiarism (i.e., copy-and-paste) leads to a ZERO grade of the assignment. • Read the assigned reading. • No make-up writing for any missed in-class writing, regardless of your excuses.

9. ANYTHING else ? • This is a WRITING class, not a grammar class. • I do NOT correct ALL grammatical errors. • Your essay will be used as an example for the purpose of instruction and discussion in class. • Your name and ID will be hidden.
