  6. Circle of Collaboration • CSUTeach

  7. Internships • After school tutorials • Weekend tutorials • Pull-out tutorials • Teaching assistants • Summer placements • Tutorials for athletes in conjunction with local recreation centers

  8. Impact of Internships • One-on-one tutoring builds confidence • I think having some one on one tutoring is a great way to ease into teaching and to get a feel for how students react to you. • Saturday school builds teaching skills • The internship has given me valuable experience working with high school age students and insight into teaching at this level of education, including teaching strategies and classroom management skills.

  9. Internships (cont.) • Summer camps develop communication strategies • Working with the camps I learned valuable skills such as classroom management and time management as well as many others. I also learned effective methods of communicating ideas and concepts to students at all levels as well as the skills necessary for working with children of all ages.  • Varying abilities prepares for classroom realities • Prior to this experience I have only worked with students one on one. Therefore, I was able to learn quite a bit. Especially because the students came to the table with varying abilities and varying previous knowledge on the content, much like one could expect in a classroom of 20-30 students. It is these intimate experiences where I tend to learn the most about myself as a teacher.

  10. Analysis of Recipients’ GPA score

  11. Sustaining the Internship Program • UT Austin got an early lead gift of $5,000,000 from an Alum. • 7 years later they had $9,000,000 which generated almost $400,000 in unrestricted income • Working with Development office critical • Dedicated development committee with external representation essential
