  1. Satellite Band Combinations.

  2. Bands 3, 2, 1 in red, green, blue. This is considered the natural colour composition. It is usually used primarily for display purposes and as background images by non-expert users of satellite data. It is also used to look at shallow waters.

  3. Bands 4, 5, 3 in red, green, blue. This band combination provides the best delineation between vegetation types. It is used mostly for vegetation and land cover analysis. This band combination is of particular use for areas like south east England.

  4. Bands 7, 4, 2 in red, green, blue. This combination is usually used for geological applications as it provides the greatest distinction between rock types. Band 1 is somtimes used instead of band 2 in the blue band.This combination works well in arid areas.

  5. Bands 7, 5, 3 in red, green, blue. This presents pseudo-natural colour image.
