Professor Albert van den Berg of the University of Twente received the Spinoza Price 2009 for his key breakthroughs in the understanding and manipulation of micro and nano channels, and the application of his knowledge to areas such as new medical equipment. This prize (‘Dutch Nobel Prize’) presented by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) is the most prestigious Dutch award in science and is presented annually to scientists for pioneering research.
