  2. What Does the Water Buffalo Look Like? The water buffalo usually has a brown or a black body. A male water buffalo’s horns are close to five feet (1.5 meters) long, its weight is 700-1200 kg,and its length from head to tail not counting the horns is 8-9 feet long. So, if someone measures the horn, head, and body, the buffalo is about 14 feet. Females are smaller in size and weight, but they still have huge horns. 14 feet 4 feet

  3. Who are a Water Buffalo’s Predators? The natural enemies of the buffalo are crocodiles, komodo dragons and packs of lions. It rarely succeeds in killing a lion, because the pack works together with the powerful teeth outward for defense. There are probably other predators out in the wild also. Did someone say buffalo? I’m hungry!!

  4. What do Water Buffalos Eat? Water buffaloes eat leaves, grass, twigs, tree bark, and other vegetation. They eat three times more than a person eats. A water buffalo can go without eating for four days, but they must have water, which is the main reason why they live in damp areas such as wetlands.

  5. Where do Water Buffaloes Live? Water buffaloes are endangered and live only in a small number of protected areas stretching across India, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, and Pakistan. 95% of water buffaloes live in damp places with lots of clean, cool water to drink and bathe in, but the air has to be warm for water buffaloes.

  6. What is the Lifecycle of a Water Buffalo? Ten to twelve months after mating, one or two calves are born. Then, the calves try to walk and cool off in water. Then, after four or five months, the calves are not calves anymore, for they are now growing. They grow up finally after two to three more months, and then start to find their mates. Water buffaloes live at least 25 years.

  7. Are Water Buffaloes Almost Extinct? Water buffaloes are not very close to being extinct, but it is threatened and almost over to endangered. The reason is because people kill them only for accessories like rings and bracelets. The horns are used for these. If this keeps happening, the water buffaloes will soon be extinct.
