Benefits of Electric Car Charging

First you will need to know how you are planning to charge your car. Perhaps you are planning to use a regular 115V plug knowing that it will be slow in charging or in alternative you will install a Level 2 (240 Volt) Electric Vehicle Service Equipment ( EVSE ) at your home or office to have a fasted charge. You can also plan to charge using a nearby Electric Public Charging Stations. There are different types Public Electric Charging Stations, here are the types of electric charging stations.

  1. Public Electric Car Charging Benefits of Electric Car Charging. Technology advancement has brought the electrical cars to mass market. Electric cars minimize the use of oil and reduce gas emissions; they are getting competitive with combustion engines and they are much easier to maintain. Automobile companies such as Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Hyundai, Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, Audi have focused their effort to make the best EVs to compete with the gasoline cars. The first electric car was made by Scottish inventor named Robert Anderson, in 1832-1839, in 1897 Thomas Edison produced another electric vehicle which faced the challenges of charging and the battery technology. Finally in 2009, the department of energy awarded $8billion loan to Ford, Nissan and TeslaMotors todevelop new technologies relate to the electric car performance and charging infrastructure. Here are some things you need to know before buying the electric car. •Public Electric Charging Stations. •Level 2 Electric Charging Stations (240 volts) This stationenables you to charge your electric car at a rate of 20-25 miles per hour. A Nissan Leaf will be full in approx. 4 hours. •Level 3 Electric Charging Station (480 volts) This type of charging is becoming the most popular public car charging, simply because it is really fast, we can charge 80% of the full battery in 20 minutes, converting high voltage AC to DC power for direct storage in EV Batteries, it comes with different adaptors for different charging port (CHAdeMO and CCS). 2. Public Electric Car Charging •Type 1 plug: - This is a single-phase 115 Volt plug that enables charging levels to 2KW this type of plug is commonly used at home. •Type 2 plug: - This is a standard J1772 port, commonly used in the US. It charges at a rate of 7.2 KW. •Type 3 plug: - There are 2 types of plugs available for the fast charging stations. The CCS plug (Combined Charging System) is the type adopted by the US and European car manufacturers. The CHAdeMO plug is the standard used by the Japanese car manufacturers. All fast charging stations have a dual connector to meet the demand of all cars available in the market.
