Passover: 3 Parts • God’s Command to Moses & the Israelites • Dress as if leaving, & ‘pack up’ • Eat a special dinner • Kill 1yr old, unblemished lamb • Mark lintels & doorposts with blood of the lamb • Angel of Death will Pass over you • God’s Warning to Pharaoh • Israel’s obedience and the Plague

Why the death of the First Born? • And Pharaoh commanded that first-born male child should be put to death • It was pharoah’s command, not originally God’s • The Warning left Pharaoh responsible for the lives of his own people • God does give a way to protect Egyptians…they also could follow the command of Passover

  4. What happens to these Souls? • Egyptians who died—are in God’s hands • God giver of Life—He is the ONLY one with the power to take life—to Himself • Suffering of survivors—This caused by sin (Pharaoh’s) not by God

  5. Foreshadowing • An event (usually in OT) that contains symbols that will be fulfilled by Christ
