  3. Mission Rippleffect seeks to support the healthy development of youth and communities through active learning in living classrooms. Map of Casco Bay

  4. Programs: Clients Served • Youth Open Enrollment • Youth Leadership Programs • School Partnerships • Organizational Partnerships • Adult Leadership Programs • Adult social Events • Customized Events

  5. History: Commitment to our Community • Incorporation 1998 – sustained by key funding from few donors and one large event • Purchase of Cow Island in 2004 – major capital campaign • Addition of Semi-Self Sufficient Infrastructure – major donor supported capital investment 2005 • Addition of adult programs (incongruous and not particularly successful • Departure of Founder 2009 • New Executive Director 2009(Awareness that all programming need to reflect the mission of the organization

  6. Financials A new approach is necessary: diversified program income stream In the past, a reliance on “the jackpot” – a couple of devoted funders and a couple of big events

  7. Our Opportunities: Serving Adults Makes Sense Underutilized Assets: • Staff • Island • Infrastructure • Relationships • Proximity to Portland • Limitations of youth and social services: • School Calendar • Funding

  8. Expansion and marketing of Programs – not breaking new ground • Current services: • Facilitation • Team building • Recreation • Special events

  9. What we need … • greater brand awareness • diversified funding stream • expanded board of directors • review of staff to reflect the changing needs of the organization

  10. What efforts of sustainability have not worked in the past? • Fundraising inconsistent with mission • Unreasonable expectations for special event fundraising • Lack of follow-through with donors and program development • Lack of discipline in exploring new program ideas

  11. Success A sustainable organization that fulfills its mission and ensures that primarily youth , secondarily adults can benefit from its robust program offerings.
