    2. History In 1974 The WIC food package was designed to supply foods rich in five target nutrients known to be lacking in the diets of the WIC target population. Vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and protein

    3. WIC Foods Since 1974 The only significant change made in the WIC food package occurred in 1992, when Tuna and Carrots were added for breastfeeding women.

    4. Why Change? Over the years the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) received numerous requests to revise the WIC food package. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) provided USDA with a sound scientific basis for developing a new set of foods for the WIC Program.

    5. How the WIC Food Package was Revised As a result of the IOM recommendations, USDA proposed changes in August 2006. Over 46,000 comments were received. The final rule was published in December 2007. Final Implementation Date: October 1, 2009

This will look the same as a WIC Check, but will be written for up to a specific dollar value; $6, $8, $10, or $15.  The CVV will be used to purchase fresh, frozen, and/or canned fruits and vegetables.   At the discretion of the store, multiple CVVs may be combined into one transaction. WIC customers may purchase more than the value of the CVV if the WIC customer chooses to pay the difference with cash, check, credit, Food Stamps, or some other form of payment.

    30. At the discretion of the store, checks can be combined together. If the WIC customer goes over the dollar amount of the check, they will have to pay the difference using cash, food stamps, or credit/debit card. If the WIC customer spends less than the dollar amount they must not receive any money back.
