Q1a – choose one factor from one activity and explain in detail how it had an impact on your performance • It should be an activity you have done in either 3rd or 4th year. • Choose a factor that you have collected data on! • It can impact your performance positively or negatively • Worth two marks so make 2 good points

  3. 4th year examples • Hockey • Physical Factor: Skills • Netball • Physical Factor: Agility+ Stamina (Fitness), Shooting, Attacking + Defending (Skills), Tactics • Social Factor: Communication, Teamwork • Gymnastics • Physical Factor: Strength, Flexibility, Balance, Co-ordination (Fitness), Skills, Composition • Mental Factor: Anxiety, Confidence, Focus

Q2a – Explain in detail one method you have used to gather information on your performance. • Must be chosen from one factor/one activity in Q1a. • Choose one that you have developed in a training program. • Make it easy for yourself – pick 1 that you have a lot of information on and have used reliable data methods for. • Explain in detail exactly how you used the method. Consider time, space, equipment, who, what, when, why, how.

  5. 4th year examples • Hockey • Physical Factor: match analysis sheet (Whole-Game), focussed analysis sheet (Skills), teacher feedback, knowledge of results, personal reflection • Netball • Physical Factor: Illinois Agility Test, Cooper Test (Fitness), Shooting Test (Skills), Video (Tactics), Team analysis sheet (whole-game), teacher feedback, knowledge of results, personal reflection • Social Factor: Video + Team analysis sheet (communication), teacher feedback, knowledge of results, personal reflection • Gymnastics • Physical Factor: Grip dynamometer, Sit and Reach test, Stork test, Co-ordination test (Fitness), Analysis sheet (Skills, Composition), Video (whole-performance), teacher feedback, knowledge of results, personal reflection • Mental Factor: SCAT Test (anxiety), Video (whole-performance), teacher feedback, knowledge of results, personal reflection

  6. Q2b – Explain in detail why you chose this method • Worth 4 marks so must give reasons. • Why is it better to use video than personal reflection? • Consider is it a standardised test, is it valid, easy to set up, reliable, does it give you a bench mark, create goals, activity specific, fitness related, does it provide a starting point, motivational, track progress, detailed results, recognised test, can you refer back to it or compare it…

  7. Q2c – Explain what you discovered from your data collection? What does it tell you about your performance? • What were your strengths and areas for development. • How do you know? • How do they impact on your performance? • Worth 3 marks

Q2d(i) – Make a copy of your training programme and approaches you used to develop your performance • You will add this as an appendix to your portfolio. • It must be neat and well organised. • 3 sessions which you have completed and collected feedback on • Related to area of development, specific to you and your goals, appropriate training methods

  9. Fitness training approaches: continuous, fartlek, interval, circuits, weights, conditioned drills • Skill training approaches: shadow, repetition, pressure, conditioned, combination, gradual build up, isolation, model performer • Mental training approaches: Mental rehearsal, positive self talk, visualisation, relaxation exercises, imagery, yoga • Social training approaches: team talks, communication exercises, team-building tasks

  10. Q2d(ii) – Explain why you chose this programme to develop your performance? • You must refer to your training programme and the information in Q2c • Worth 5 marks so a well detailed and developed answer is essential

  11. Q3a – Explain why it is important to monitor your training programme and performance development • Worth 3 marks Q3b – Explain how you monitored your training programme and progress • Worth 4 marks

  12. Q3c – Explain the decisions you had to make whilst carrying out and monitoring your programme. • Worth 4 marks Q3d – Choose another factor you now consider relevant for your continued performance development. • This should come from a different factor than one chosen in Q1a • You may draw on information gathered from monitoring and recording your development plan, any feedback you have received etc. • Worth 3 marks

  13. Q3e – Explain what impact this factor might have on your performance in the future. • Worth 3 marks Make sure your portfolio flows and you have included as much information from the course as you can. Look through your folder and see if there is any information you can add in
