  2. Indiana Dunes • The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is located in northern Indiana on the shore of Lake Michigan.

  3. Death Valley • The sand dunes of Death Valley National Park in southern California have life that is found nowhere else in the world.

  4. Great Sand Dunes • The Great Sand Dunes National Monument is located in Colorado. It’s strange to see snow covered mountains and sand so close together.

  5. White Sands • The sands at White Sands National Monument in New Mexico really are bright white! The ripples are formed by wind.

  6. Mojave • The Mojave National Preserve in California contains magnificent dunes. The wind blows the sand and reshapes the dunes.

  7. Sleeping Bear Dunes • The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan contains bluffs and dunes along Lake Michigan.
