Core Programme ContentBSc & PG Dip • Professional Practice Portfolio: Specialist Community Public Health Nursing • Delivering the Healthy Child Programme • Evidence Based Practice (EBP) • Child Protection: Assessment & Intervention (CP) • Prescribing from the community nurse formulary (PCNF) • Leadership Skills for Public Health Nursing • Child and Adolescent Mental Health: Assessment and Treatment

  4. Term 1 Modules • Delivering the Healthy Child Programme - Fridays and some Tuesdays • Group Poster presentation (50%) and individual write-up of students contribution (1000 words-50%) submitted in January • Evidence Based Practice • Tuesdays - 2,000 word research review submitted in January

  5. Term 2 and 3 Modules • CP: I&A – Thursdays T2 • PCNF – Fridays T2 • LSPHN- Thursdays T2 and T3 • CAMHS – Thursday & Friday T3

  7. Professional Portfolio • The professional module • Provides evidence that you are proficient in the Standards for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing

Four Domains • Search for health needs : surveillance and assessment of the population’s health and well being • Stimulation of awareness of health needs : collaborative working for health and well being; working with and for communities to improve health and well being • Influence on policies affecting health : developing health programmes and services and reducing inequalities; research and development to improve health and well being and reduce inequalities; policy and strategy development to improve wellbeing; research and development to improve health and wellbeing • Facilitation of health enhancing activities: promoting and protecting population’s health and well being

Re-invigorated by • New understanding of the impact of early child development on health and development • Commitment to intervention to reduce health inequalities, social justice and lifecycle rather than lifestyle • Promoting attachment, supporting school readiness and effective parenting • Recognising the importance of sustaining support across the life course for school-aged children and young people to improve outcomes and reduce inequalities
