  2. Motivation for a W′ • The SM relies on Higgs to break electroweak symmetry • But the Higgs is still missing • The LHC can investigate Higgsless models • Higgsless Extra-Dimension Models • Technicolor (composite models)

  3. MHLM • The Minimal Higgsless Model (MHLM) is a simple extra-dimensions model which predicts one pair of new W′ and Z′ bosons • To be consistent with electroweak data, couplings to fermions must be small, so diboson channels dominate • W′ ➟ W Z • Z′ ➟ W W • W′ is preferable to Z′ since only one neutrino is produced in the final state

  4. Cross Section of MHLM • Kinematic cuts have been applied; these are all findable events

  5. W′➟WZ • The WZjj channel provides a wide range and larger σ, so is best for initial discovery • The WZZ channel provides a clean resonance peak, so will become more important with larger integrated luminosities

  6. Backgrounds 200 pb-1 • For ZZ, one missing lepton leads to a fake signal • For Z + bbar, ttbar, the b-jets have a much higher likelihood to fake a lepton than do jets from light quarks
