Sitting here, in Room 6 at my desk again . . .

1. Sitting here, in Room 6 at my desk again . . . My feet remember not having to wear shoes nor socks for two whole weeks, if I didn’t want to. My legs remember lying full-length on the warm, woollen carpet reading “THE PRESS” for as long as it takes. My body remembers the electric blanket’s ability to ease the aches and pains of age. My fingers remember picking ripe, red raspberries fresh from the prickly plants. My arms remember the all-embracing bear hugs given and received from visiting friends/family. My face remembers the late-afternoon rays filtering through the sunroom curtains. My mind remembers . . . I LOVE THIS PLACE . . . I love writing.

My feet remember walking on the golden sands of Savai’i My legs remember kicking to keep afloat in the warm water My body remembers browning up like a local Samoan My fingers remember picking up the unusual shells from the beach My eyes remember seeing all the colourful fish in the shallow water. . My mind remembers . . . Maybe next year I will return to Samoa.
