  3. Landforms & Rivers • Other name for it is The Middle East. • Countries are Israel, Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria & Turkey. • Lies on 2 continents. Europe & Asia • Dardanelles, Bosporus and Sea of Marmara separate Europe from Asia.

  4. Landforms • The coastal plain runs from Turkey through Syria, Lebanon & Israel. • Jordan River flows into the Dead Sea. • Dead Sea lies 1,312 ft below sea level. • the Tigris & Euphrates are the region’s major rivers.

  5. Climates, Biomes & Natural Resources • The area is covered with arid, semiarid & Mediterranean climates. • Turkey’s coast is mild and sunny. Cold and snowstorms occur in the winter. • Lebanon is known for its cedar trees. • Forests in Cyprus includes cedar, cypress & pine trees.

Potash is used to make fertilizers, glass and soft soap.
