  1. Your Placement Year UKVI Compliance Team: Louise Cottam– Sponsorship Duties and Processes Adam Smith – Attendance Monitoring and Data Quality Anna Want – Compliance Manager

  2. Your responsibilities Excellent, invaluable opportunity! You have our full support! However… You must inform the placements team if you have secured a placement (whether in the UK or overseas) so it can be approved You must make sure you will remain within your Tier 4 time limit We need to know where you are You must attend an approved work placement full time We need to be able to contact you You need to tell us of any change, no matter how small you think it is

  3. Why? • We have to – • Give the Home Office the dates and address of your placement within ten days of you starting work. If the Home Office are not aware of your work placement, and that it has been approved by the University, if you are found in a workplace by UKVI officers this could have serious implications for your visa. • Inform the Home Office of any changes to the original information provided within ten days of the change happening • Fully monitor your attendance during the placement year • Withdraw our sponsorship of you if we can’t do any of the above or if you are not following the conditions of your visa while on your placement “You will be responsible for the student throughout the period of their work placement and must continue to comply with all your sponsor duties during this time.” Tier 4 of the Points Based System Guidance for Sponsors (version 04/2014) - Document 2.

  4. What to expect Placements team will provide us with your placement detailsand confirm your placement has been approved You must go to see the International Student Advisory Service (Ground Floor, RLB) to have your time limit checked before you undertake the placement, otherwise you may find you do not have enough time in which to complete your degree. 2. We will report your placement to the Home Office. 3. On your first day, a declaration will be emailed to you and your line manager. This must be returned to us within two weeks. An email will be sent to your line manager once a month to help us monitor your attendance. If we do not receive a response within one week, you will also get an email. Please ensure you check your student email account regularly! A member of the International Office will aim to visit you once during your placement to make sure everything is going well.
